Thanks to Yelp we came here in search of breakfast and Bloody Mary's. I can say I'm honestly impressed! The Bloody Mary's we're awesome and the food great! I had the Killer Creole Omelette (per the very cute and accommodating bar tenders suggestion) and it was one of the best omelette I've had in a long time! If you want a great Bloody Mary, actual good food and good/friendly service I would definitely suggest going to Brick and Spoon.. You won't be disappointed.

I wish I could rate a 4 1/2 because this place is worthy of 4.9999999 stars, just not quite 5. Overall the place is great and I will be back more than once on my next trip to Orange Beach! The food is innovative and exciting. The waitress we had was on things constantly, and had a good balance of professionalism and friendliness. Even the manager did us a favor by setting us up at an outside table when they had the outside otherwise closed down at the time. So, why not a full 5 stars you ask? The food though amazing in concept just fell a little short of expectations. The best of the items my friends, wife, and I ordered was the Baked Brie Bruschetta. As an appetizer, it was awesome. They had a good combination of sweet and savory. The critic in me would have preferred the brie be changed out for goat cheese, but overall they were the best item we ate there. This made up for what I found lacking below. My wife and I ordered the Breakfast Tacos and the Grown Up Grilled Cheese. I had high expectations for the tacos and they came really close to delivering. My only complaint is that they really needed more chorizo in the scrambled eggs. It just missed the meat and seasoning that we were expecting. Another review covered the Grown Up Grilled Cheese well when they said that they were wondering where the cheese was at. It is an awesome sandwich and would otherwise earn a good review if the name was different, but it just didn't sell me as a grilled cheese sandwich. To wash down the food I ordered their famous Big Spoon Bloody Mary. It was yummy, but again, it fell short of expectation. I couldn't tell there was any Grey Goose vodka in the drink, and I'd expect to notice it since that's a premium option that cost more. In this beast I selected the medium temperature, blue cheese stuffed olive, green onion, celery, cherry tomato, orange wedge, rosemary, basil, blue cheese, and baked bacon strip with a peppered rim. The blue cheese wasn't in the dish at all unfortunately and they substituted a shrimp in it's place. I was disappointed about the vodka and the ingredient change there, but overall the drink was awesome. I'll give it one more try next time. Our friends ordered the Corn Crab & Sweet Pepper Crepe, The Shrimp & Tasso Mac & Cheese, and the Original Pancakes. The crepes were so good that it's the first item that wasn't shared on this vacation by the friend who ordered it. The mac and cheese was also very tasty as it was much more savory than I expected it to be. On a side note, that was by far the biggest portioned item of the visit too for those of you with an appetite! The pancake was also dense, flavorful, and tasty for a typical pancake. I will be back to Brick & Spoon, but I hope they enrich the flavors of their dishes between now and then! This place is already awesome, but there's still untapped potential that I hope they aspire to.

We came in here for brunch by recommendation of a friend and someone we met at another local breakfast place in Orange Beach. Thankfully, they didn't disappoint! We started with Beignets, and they were really good! Fairly authentic, supposedly. I haven't been to New Orleans (yet) and can't compare. I can't quite remember what I had to eat there, but I remember it was good! And, I was full until dinnertime. I want to say it was the Farmer's Market Benedict because I had poached eggs (hard, and they did a good job of it!). Everything was really fresh and good! Service was great, too. The atmosphere is really laid-back and casual, but the space looks fairly empty. Like they could add more tables or something. It has that modern minimalist, brick-and-mortar type feel to it. I'm not sure if I'm using the right words to describe it, but I know it when I see it. Definitely worth checking out while you're in the area!

Being from New Orleans I know amazing food. They have some amazing things. The Brie appetizer and the Banana's in pajama's. We're amazing! Entree wise I had the grown up grilled cheese and it left me wondering where the cheese was it was just ok. My friend had the French toast sliders they were good but I have had better. The Bloody Mary is cool it's different but not the best I've had just really cool to build your own. The service was ok she was nice and friendly just slow and forgetful.

Come here every time we come to the beach. Great place for everyone to get something they want. Bloody Mary's and good and the trio of the mimosas are also very good

Yummy food! Great drinks. Love the choose your own menu for the Bloody Mary. We ate at the bar because the place was packed. Great service.

Serving breakfast tacos in crispy wonton shells with mango salsa was a wonderful creative take on the ordinary breakfast. I really enjoyed it though it was horribly messy as the shell crumbled with each bite. The French fries were nothing special. They have raised their price per taco to $10 for two tacos when six months ago, it was three breakfast tacos for $11.50. It is a good place for an interesting breakfast and a custom Bloody Mary.

Had the American breakfast with the best cheese grits in the world! Capped off with the delicious cream filled beignets and raspberry jam. This is a great little place to eat a nice breakfast and I come every year when I visit Orange Beach. Price is what it is but worth it!

Delicious food, great service, great atmosphere, the garden vegetable omelet with sliced tomatoes amazing. And my sin has the breakfast tacos which he said were very good. This is definitely a must stop for breakfast, brunch

Walked into a busy restaurant with a wait- the manager came up and offered us seating outside or at the bar immediately. That was a great move. Sat at the bar and were waited on by a wonderful bartender who also bar-tends at the Big fish. He is extremely attentive and great! Ordered Crab cakes Benny (Benedict) and the Spinach bacon omelette, both with fruit as sides. Both were ABSOLUTeLY DELICIOUS! The crab cakes were so tasty and well seasoned wth tons of crab- no fillers. Yum!!!! The fruit sides were huge bowls of fruit . Yes we will definitely be back !!! The bloody Marys seem to be their thing as there's a whole menu to build your own Mary.. The Bloody Mary glasses are HUGE Will try that next time ...will definitely be back

Delicious eatery. A little more pricey for breakfast but if that doesn't bother you delicious food and unique plates. Not your average breakfast!

  • Damon M.

The coffee was not good. I also ordered a latte, it was ok but only the size of a thimble. My grits were terribly under-salted. If you have ever made gritz, then you know you cant fix them with a salt shaker after the fact. My eggs benedict was good but not hot.

  • Darren H.

So this was a pretty good entry for brunch in this area, I wasn't as blown away by the food as others have been but it was good & all items were pretty consistent. I had the "American Breakfast" and my lady had the "breakfast tacos" which I had to taste as well. On top of this we had some Mimosas [I really like the mango]. Just about the only negative complaint I would have to say that they aren't very good in turning there tables over. If they would do a better job with this they make more money and have more satisfied customers.

  • Devin B.

A truly unique place with a huge array of brunch options that aren't typically found anywhere else. All the food was fresh and tasted great. 5 stars for the selection, great service and fantastic food. The banana foster french toast was amazing and I would totally recommend it for those with a sweet tooth. A more savory option would be the soft shell crab benedict, which had a delectable corn meal crust. Both the sweet and savory options are great choices, though! An overall great brunch.

  • Shawn F.

The Bloody Mary's at Brick and Spoon rock. The leave a sheet of paper at your table for you to pick out all the things you want. Unfortunately all the vegetables I wanted they were out of so they gave me a bunch of extra meats and cheeses. Loved it! For brunch the soft shell crab Benedict rocked, absolutely loved it! I wasn't too crazy about the grits though, have had better. Prices were a little high but we enjoyed it anyways. I would recommend to anybody.

I read about this place online and it was everything it said it would be and more. The place was packed and had a long wait but we sat at the bar & the bartender was very friendly. Of course we tried the awesome Bloody Mary's they are known for and it was awesome. They give you a sheet to fill out everything you want in it from green beans and pickled carrots to bacon and shrimp as well as fresh herbs. Wow! We had the tacos with mango salsa and they were to die for! Don't pass up this place, it's definitely a must try!

The best breakfast spot ever! I will have dreams about the breakfast tacos! Delish! My man ordered their mac and cheese; wasn't super impressed either...he was envious of my tacos. Kinda cool that you can order anything on the menu all day long!! Daughter got french toast and bacon...good but nothing special, not B&S's fault though...she's a picky eater and it was perfect for her! Next time I come back I'm going to have to try one of their many eggs Benedict options!

We spent a week in Orange Beach/ Gulf Shores vacationing during spring break. This was by far the best restaurant we went to. We came for brunch on Friday and had the drink special- a tasty and well proportioned French 75. Let me start by saying the entire menu here looks amazing. My neck was snapping back and forth looking at everyone else's dishes in the restaurant. My hubs and I both the the "oyster bed"- which was THE best poached eggs on top of an English muffin, with THE best hollandaise sauce, pecan smoked bacon, tomato, and THE best fried oysters I've ever had. I'm seriously not exaggerating about this breakfast yall. My son had the pancake and side of bacon, also delicious. This brunch was the start of our favorite day of our trip. Great space- a little loud on the inside so we sat outside. Good service and a nice break from the college spring breaker crowd. Check out the pics!

I found Brick & Spoon through Yelp. This place is the reason why I use Yelp when we travel. Absolutely the best breakfast in Orange Beach. My wife and I have tried just about every place in the area over the years. Brick and Spoon in my opinion is the best. Breakfast is my favorite meal. This place has a great atmosphere and a great wait staff. We have tried many things on the menu and haven't been disappointed by anything. Brick & Spoon is a must stop to eat breakfast. They don't have your traditional bacon and eggs. They have stuff with flair and great taste. Definitely recommend. We eat there several times while we are in the area on vacation.

The food is amazing but be prepared if you go there when it is crowded it will be so loud you can't even carry on a conversation with the peole you are with. The restaurant is all concrete and solid walls. There is not enough of anything to dull the noise. VERY VERY VERY loud!!

  • Andi M.

Delicious breakfast. There's something here for everyone from down to earth dishes like omelets and fancier fare like soft shell crab eggs Benedict.

  • Sarah L.

Breakfast was amazing and a perfect end to our vacation. My family of 5 shared several dishes. We started with bananas in pajamas which were bananas fried in egg roll wrappers with fosters sauce. The breakfast tacos were light and crisp and paired with truffle fries per our servers advice. So good we ordered a second plate. Both the bananas foster french toast and the french toast sliders we're to die for. Perfectly balanced flavors. Our server was fantastic!

  • Melissa G.

Really great breakfast/brunch spot. Bloody Mary's are perfection, mimosa sampler was great, crab cake Benny and French toast slider were out of this world and so much food we had snack time later. Must go while you are in OBA.

  • Lanell J.

Absolutely the best service and delicious breakfast I've gotten in this area or anywhere in a long time. Super busy place but the wait time was short. The waiter was quick and always with a smile! Hubby says the Bloody Mary was the best he's every had. Food was fresh and plated beautifully. My coffee cup was filled often! French toast was delicious; large thick fresh bread with just the right amount of cinnamon and sugar. Spinach and bacon Omelet was cooked perfectly. We will be back! Great restaurant!!!

  • Caroline H.

I was pleasantly surprised by this place. My sister recommended we try it out and I'm glad we did. These days, it's rare to find a restaurant that has great service and great food, but this place has both. The menu is long and it's hard to decide what to order because everything sounds so good. I got the chicken club sandwich that I loved and my friend got the french toast. I've been coming to Orange Beach for years because my family has a condo here and we all get tired of eating "beach food." This restaurant is a great addition to OB because it's so different and offers choices that no other restaurants in the area have. If you're in the mood to eat something that isn't fried or seafood, definitely give Brick & Spoon a try. I will be back!

  • Josh L.

This place was great. The service was fast and polite. The menu is limited but it looked like everything on the menu was well prepared. I had crab cakes eggs Benedict and they were fantastic. Wife had chorizo tacos with parm truffle fries. Delish! Highly recommended.

  • Nicole L.

Go for the Bloody Mary alone...an entire menu devoted to my drink of choice in the AM...yes please! The beignets and breakfast tacos are always on my list also.....hard to beat!

  • Corinne P.

This place was excellent!! If you want different breakfast food this is the place to get it!! My husband was disappointed that there weren't more "normal" breakfast choices, but I had the breakfast tacos and they were delicious! Plus, my wild berry mimosa was yummy :).

    (4)
  • Marcie G.

Delicious for brunch / lunch!! My husband enjoyed his giant, loaded Bloody Mary. They had numerous toppings / garnishes to choose from. I enjoyed my creole omelette and my husband loved the chicken club. The portions are generous. Enjoy!

  • Lynn W.

Unique breakfast option if you are wanting to get away from the beach! You can craft your own Bloody Mary with tons of options. Lots of mimosa choices and the BEST coffee ever. Seriously. The food was delicious too.

This has got to be the coolest place for "the morning after"...holy smoke what a Bloody Mary! The staff is very friendly and prompt. The food is awesome - this place is just awesome - everything is fresh off the truck. We actually saw them unloading the vegetables. Rita was our waitress and she did a great job with our table...thanks brick and spoon!

  • Jen C.

Overall good experience here. Arrived close to 8am during the week and got seated right away. The baked Brie bruschetta was a phenomenal appetizer, coffee was good, and killer creole omelet was tasty. I wasn't impressed with the grits that came with my entree, but no big deal since the omelet was large and good. We ordered a "pancake with fruit" meal from kids meal for our daughter, and the pancake was huge and delicious, but the fruit served was just a small shot-glass size cup of mixed fruit. A weird small amount of melon and 1 grape...a little disappointing but it was fresh and the pancake kept her busy. Overall great food, and I hope to checkout again next time we are in town.

  • Tim P.

It's not your basic breakfast place. However, a guy at the table next to us told the waiter he was "just a plain ole guy". He ordered a traditional egg and bacon breakfast which I'm sure was just fine. However, the costal inspired menu items take breakfast to new heights. We had oysters and softshell crab and eggs and all the trimmings. So, So, So good. Put is on your list if passing anywhere near the gulf. They have other locations in Louisiana, as well.

Boyfriend and I came due to the great ratings on here and boy were we impressed. You can build your own Bloody Mary to your exact liking. The food was SO good. Definitely recommend

We have been here three or four times and have always had a good dining experience. We have had egg dishes, salads and a variety of sandwiches and they were all delicious. The waitstaff all seem to work well together which makes the dining experience that much better. Wonderful breakfast and lunch restaurant. Make sure you try one of their bloody Mary's! They are nearly a meal in itself. The only downside is they close at 2 PM.

  • Rashad S.

I really didn't enjoy the soft shell crab BLT. It was very good once I removed the crab. My friend had an omelette, grits, and Bloody Mary. I really wanted to like this place but it was just okay. I'll give it a second chance when I'm in the area.

Happy 4th of July! Got here at 8:30 and we were immediately sat. After looking over the drinks we went with the mint julep and mango mimosa. The drinks were great. Side note there is a Bloody Mary order sheet in your table that looks awesome. I digress we then took a look at the bfast menu and it was better than the drinks who knew...... Went with the Korean BBQ eggs Benedict and bananas foster French toast. What can I say both were great. The flavors outstanding. We both said after our first bites we need to come again this trip since we wanted everything on the menu. I would also like to commend and thank Leslie for such great service. Now it's beach time. See y'all tomorrow.

  • Pam M.

Awesome!! The smiling courteous wait staff met us at the door and promptly seated us. Our waitress was nice and and very quick to get our drink order which was excellent. The Bloody Mary was the perfect drink to start our last day on the beach. My husband chose the stuffed French toast and raved the whole time. I chose the killer creole omelet with grits. Yummy!! We will be back.....maybe on our way out of town...soft shell crab eggs Benedict sounded too good to not try at some point. I highly recommend!!!!

  • Kimberly L.

This restaurant is very good but be warned - it is very loud. There are concrete floors (as in many restaurants these days) and of course this makes everything louder. They have added what appear to be foam tiles on the ceiling but could use many more (or hanging foam tiles) to help with noise. That said - the food is absolutely excellent! Our group had Eggs Benedict, French Toast and the beignets with delicious strawberry sauce. Fantastic. Service was also excellent. I would give 5 stars but the noise level made it difficult at times to enjoy the experience.

  • Pete F.

Reading all of the previous reviews, I guess we had higher expectations for our meal. The overall theme seemed to be a great venue, good looking plates of food that lacked any depth or seasoning. My wife had the shrimp and tarragon sandwich...made with baby salad shrimp that were not deveined..,in Orange Beach, AL, literally surrounded by high quality, local seafood! Also no tarragon flavor detected. I had the oyster bed (fried oysters with 2 poached eggs hollandaise). Not bad, but lacked seasoning. The hollandaise was the star of the plate though. The Bloody Mary was a fun experience and good but not good enough to try again at $11.

  • Taylor H.

The service was great and the food was AMAZING. Ordered the French toast as an appetizer and then got and split the chicken florentine eggs Benedict and the crab cake Benny... Both were very impressive. Had a couple mimosas and the dining experience was complete.

  • Svetlana O.

This place is a winner! I had the Stuffed French Toast Sliders with a cappuccino for brunch. Had a very hard time deciding what to order because the entire menu is incredible, but I compromised with the sweetness of the French Toast and made sure to get a taste of the infamous Parmesan Truffle Frites that came with what my boyfriend ordered (Korean BBQ Benedict). Needless to say, I want to go back to make my way through that menu. Absolutely wonderful service and food.

  • Mike B.

Waited 45 minutes for table. Not bad except the waitress for three tables let them just sit there and play on their phones while we waited. She finally went over to take the the check. Then it took her another 10 minutes to come back for the money. When we finally got a seat Yes the very same seat that the ones on the phone had. The service in this place is not very good. The food was really good. Had the stuffed French toast. Highly recommend. I probably will not go back.

This place is awsome famous for the bloody marys but the food is off the chain this place is a must do but dont be in a hurry it might take 20 min to get seated but once seated u get service pretty quick its worth the wait trust me but it breakfast and lunch only and they serve a full menu so if your like me and want a awsome grilled sandwich at breakfast you can get it

Finally and I do mean finally, lower Alabama, upper Florida area has a place to be proud of, as the Brick and Spoon, has launched it's self into breakfast rock and roll stardom. If you pooled all the restaurants together in this area, you'd go from yeah it's good to tired and dying. Your expectations are limited so the curve is set very low, The people of Orange Beach, Perdido Key and many of the parts in this area just don't know, and don't get it, what the wow factor is too food. Firstly you eat with your eyes, just think back to your single days when you saw that gorgeous gal, it was your eye's that drank her in. Well, many of the restaurants around these parts fail miserably, here, the Brick and Spoon, if I could give them six stars for plating I would, this is art on a plate! Secondly the service staff at most of these restaurants in the area are on a permanent cigarette break, they lack the passion in what there doing, service is ok, but there is a sophistication and exuberance that apparently the Brick and Spoon does not lack. I have read the two previous reviews that mentioned poor service` and know sometimes there in the weeds, but I know where near experienced that, my waitress was a foodie just like me! The food in Orange Beach, well it's good, but I can cook equally if not better then most of the restaurants here, there are some exceptions to the rule, but they lack service and ambiance for the type of food they deliver. At Brick and Spoon, once again art on the plate, and food quality certainly does not suffer, it was excellent, excellent, excellent. I can't reiterate enough, that a chef is in town, and play's his culinary skills like Eddy Van Halen. I walked away so very happy, but sad in knowing soon the two other area breakfast businesses will be out of business soon!

Best brunch spot in town. You have to start with a Bloody Mary. They give you a whole checklist of how you want to order it. There is also a great selection of flavored mimosas. For my meal I had the gouda mac n cheese and the crab beignets. Both were delicious. My friend had the bananas in pajamas which were yummy, but more like dessert. Big eclectic menu and quick & friendly service.

I was completely disappointed in my experience here today. I got into town earlier than the rest of my family & spent time over the last week deciding where I would go for a good brunch by myself. This place looked so great! The hostess acted as if I were strange requesting a table for one & asked if I'd like to sit at the bar. I really didn't want to, but the wait was 20 minutes. I went over to the bar, and then there were no available seats. So, I went back to the hostess. She then put me on the list & told me to take a bar seat if something freed up. She wasn't really rude about it, but just seemed annoyed that I wanted to take up an entire table for just me (?). I saw people leaving the bar, so I went back over to it. They had left their check signed & their used linens on the bar. I sat down. I waited, and waited, and waited. Two men were behind the bar moving around doing various things. A girl kept making drinks, going to the computer, handing people their checks, etc. She was right in front of me at the computer. After TEN minutes, she looked at me and said, "What are you waiting for?" I was sitting far back from the bar waiting for someone to clean a place for me to sit and dine! I told her I was waiting for a menu. She continued working for 5 more minutes before bringing me a menu. I looked it over for about a few minutes, hoping someone would clean the table area where I was. But, I continued to be ignored. I finally told her I was ready to place my order & it was to go. Looking back, I should've just left. I was treated so poorly. My food took a while to come out. It was not very good. The french fries were too salty and they were soggy. My sandwich was decent, but certainly not worth $12. All in all, I was in there for just under 40 minutes. Absolutely ridiculous. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

So. Very. Good. We had the Bananas in Pajamas, Shrimp & Grits, Ham and Cheese Omelettes and a grilled chicken sandwich. Excellent service, above par food and totally worth the visit!! Food was fresh, fast service and a very clean restaurant. Definitely a return place!

Food was excellent and the service was great! I love bloody Mary's and I really liked the customizable menu. I thought the Bloody Mary was good, but I do prefer a "thicker" Bloody Mary. These were very thin, but still good. We ordered beignets for for an appetizer and they were delicious! The strawberry sauce was great with them! After the filling beignets and the Bloody Mary my husband and I opted to share a brunch entrée and we went for the breakfast tacos! They were fabulous and a great portion! I would highly recommend this place! Great atmosphere, slim parking, but don't let that fool you there is plenty of room inside!

Returned with my mother. The food is delicious! This time we had the biscuits and marmalade appetizer which I can't say enough good things about! Mom had the Brie and I had the English muffin, vegetables and poached eggs.. Both yummy! We shared a mimosa trio which was a sample of 3 mimosa's. The pineapple one was the best! This is our new breakfast stop in orange beach :)

Sometimes, there is a pretty big downside to traveling... You come across a restaurant that offers an incredible dish that you just know you're going to be craving in the future. Once you get home, you won't be able to have it. Such is the predicament I've found myself in with the Brick & Spoon's breakfast tacos. Sigh. I came here while visiting Orange Beach. Although it recently opened, everything was running smoothly. We started with mimosas and coffee. I almost ordered a Bloody Mary strictly because the menu was the most extensive I've ever seen -- you get to fill out a check list of your desired garnishes (see my photo for the full list, it's unreal). Because we're gluttons, we ordered the stuffed French toast sliders for the table to split. You get 4 sliders filled with a tangy mascarpone filling. These tasted like fluffy little clouds, as expected. Stop judging my group and see for yourself how life-changing French toast can be as an appetizer. For my meal I had the aforementioned breakfast tacos. I have had breakfast tacos before. I have made breakfast tacos before. But, I've never experienced eggs and chorizo served in fried wontons. You get 3 and they're huge (and you also get a side of fries). Pro tip: you can upgrade your friends to truffle Parmesan fries. This was the only part of the meal that didn't "wow" me, as the fries were a little soggy. I'd prefer to get home fries with my brunch rather than French fries, but really, how upset can one get about fried potatoes? I only hope they open one of these down in Tampa. I look forward to the day I'm reunited with their breakfast tacos. Definitely stop in when you're in the area!

First time here on the advice of a friend. We were seated and apparently got the one server who was completely in the weeds because it took forever for her to come take a drink order. The people at our table who didn't order bar drinks got their drinks, then we sat and sat some more until we asked and she said the bar was backed up. Fair enough -- it was fairly busy -- but another table got seated and had mimosas in the time it took for her to even come back to take our order, so the bar obviously wasn't the problem. The food was awesome -- shrimp and grits, adult grilled cheese and Bananas Foster got great reviews! Took awhile to get checks, and when we did, 5 checks shared two pens. OK, fine. We get in the car to leave, and the server chases us out to see if we stole her pen -- not even one of the two she left among us to sign! No wonder she was slow, chasing cars to retrieve pens. I'd love to give the place another chance, however -- mimosas, bloody marys and food are great!

Deafening noise level from normal dining room conversation. They've hung some acoustic tiles on the ceiling, but those don't seem to make a dent. The food was fine, but we were too grumpy to enjoy it due to auditory assault. Nice, capable servers.

  • Colm M.

Very inconsistent, and certainly would not be on my list of "best breakfast joints in America". The beignets were just OK, a little on the heavy side, (though the strawberry sauce was good) and my wife, who happens to be a fabulous baker, indicated they were nowhere near the quality she got at Cafe Du Monde in New Orleans. My breakfast seemed overpriced and not particularly fresh- the fries with parmesan were unexceptional; nowhere near the quality (and huge portion!!)) served at The Tin Cow in Pensacola. The bacon and eggs our second visit were utterly unexceptional, and the grits with cheese seemed devoid of cheese. Now... I hear that the Bloody Marys are supposed to be good, but in my old age I have developed this aversion to getting stoned at 8 AM. Maybe twenty years ago, sure, and why not a bit of something fragrant as well? But these days, two or three (who can have just one, come on, don't be so squeaky clean!) bloody Marys first thing in the morning is a recipe for missing out on Monday and waking up a bit cranky on Wednesday, wondering what the hell I was thinking. (Think "Withnail and I" fourty years later, and they still can't find the aspirin!!)

Really enjoyed this place. Service was swift and we never went without anything we needed. I tried the breakfast tacos with egg, cheese, chorizo and toppings. It was really good. My only complaint was the was the shell crumbled pretty easy but I had no problem eating it. My daughter had a cheese and chorizo omelette. They must have used a half pound of meat and 6 eggs because it was HUGE! Get away from chains and TRY this place when in Gulf Shores

Delicious breakfast while on vacation at OBA. I ordered the breakfast tacos, which were nothing but A+! Many customers around us had the "design your own bloody-Mary". Looked great as well! Reasonably priced but VERY loud inside. Would definitely recommend and return!

Ate there twice this week! The first time was no fluke! Both times our meals were amazing and the service was impeccable! Definitely on the must visit list from now on. I had the steak and eggs both times. The steak was described as 8oz. That was conservative! It was at least 12 Oz's and perfectly seasoned and cooked. My girlfriend had an omelette the first visit with tasso ham that was amazing! The second visit she had the Caribbean scrambler. She liked it so much I couldn't even sample it!

The Bloody Mary menu was fun, you can mark what kind of vodka you prefer, what kind of veggies, meat, egg and spices you would like all for $11.00! The wait for a table was about 20 minutes, we went to the bar to get a Bloody Mary but before we were served out drinks we were seated. Our server was sweet as pie, a little slow but cute enough that it did not matter about having to ask for lemon twice. Our Mary and soft shell crab eggs Benedict were delightfully delicious; add some cheesy grits and fresh fruit and you have a huge meal that you can easily split. Lots of food that is tasty even for a foodie like me. The atmosphere is nothing to write home about, not really sure why brick is in the name but the food and drink will definitely bring my taste buds back for more enticing meals!! Remember it's not fast food so enjoy your time there and indulge in every bite!

So glad this place opened up to give us more options in Orange Beach! We came here for lunch. First off, service was fabulous--our waitress was very attentive. The Bloody Mary options are out of this world--i never saw a "make your own bloody mary" menu let alone with options like meat, deviled eggs, etc. I think the extra accessories so to speak are unnecessary and just makes it a fun process, but the bloody mary itself is delicious. I tried a non-alcoholic one and it satisfied the craving just as well as the real thing. The crab beignets, more like hush puppies, were delicious--probably my favorite thing that I tasted. My husband got the chimichurri burger which was also very good. Unfortunately my shrimp and grits left something to be desired. More grits/sauce than shrimp. It was just an odd dish. But I'll definitely be back to give it another shot for sure.

I went in very skeptical because everyone is my family was raving about their food so my expectations were very high. This place blew me out of the water. I had the breakfast tacos which were very unique with a mango salsa over egg in a fried wonton shell. Amazing! We all switched meals so we could taste several things. The southwest burger is the best burger I have ever put in my mouth and I love my burgers. The shrimp crepes were mouth watering and the shrimp and crab scramblers were worth going back for on their own. We also had an appetizer of bananas in pajamas that made everyone take a small moment of silence for a moment of mouth happy. It's a little more expensive than most breakfast places but I found it totally worth it. Highly recommended and I will absolutely be back.

Possibly the WORST experience I've ever had at a restaurant. I've never written a review on here but this place was SO horrible that I had to write about exactly how horrible it was. Waited about 20 minutes for a table for 3 people which wasn't so bad but they had no bartender so we couldn't even have drinks while we waited. The waitress, Andrea, finally took our orders for food after about 20 more minutes of sitting at the table. Our to-go order came out before our APPETIZER. The bloody mary that they rave so much about was less than mediocre. Their mimosa was watered down. She got my order of GRILLED CHICKEN CLUB mixed up and gave me an Adult Grilled Cheese. We ended up being here for for an hour and a half for an order of 1 hamburger, 1 shrimp and grits, 1 grilled chicken club sandwich, and to-go 1 BLT sandwich. I was so livid that I had to have my sandwich put into a to go box because I couldn't stand sitting here any longer. Oh and I'm pretty sure when I asked for napkins about 3 times we ended up getting some right before we left and it was the same napkins from the bathroom.

I ordered the Banana Foster French toast and loved it! My friend had the grilled chicken sandwich with bacon and she also was pleased with it. Service was outstanding. This was our second visit and I look forward to returning to try some of the other dishes.

This is my favorite breakfast/brunch restaurant in Alabama. Great food and great atmosphere. If weather permits, I'd recommend sitting outside. I've tried the beignets, latte, white chocolate bread pudding, Korean eggs benedict, oysters benedict, and po'boy benedict. As for everything else I have yet to try, I imagine it is all delicious. And my server! I wish I could remember her name. She was one of the best servers I've ever had in my life. If I didn't have to drive far, I'd come here everyday.

  • Dave C.

The service was fast, extremely polite and helpful. The French Toast Sliders were fabulous. My wife loved the breakfast tacos, and my kids loved the bananas in pajamas, and the beignets. You will not leave here hungry. All in all there was absolutely nothing to keep me from rating The Brick & Spoon at 5 Stars. If you are at Gulf Shores, or Orange Beach it is a must!

First let me say the creativity is great and with a little more attention to detail and flavoring this place would be by far the best breakfast in the area. Everything needed salt to bring it up to par, but with the flavors they are working with normally salt should not be needed. Stuffed Beingets were amazing, blueberry flavored whipped cream was just sweet enough. Chicken Florentine with French bread, pretty good. Creole omelet was big and made well but lacked flavor. Pomme frites were seasoned well but were barely warm which ruins frites for me. Bloody Mary was huge, customizable by check list, and flavor was just right. Granted for 11 bucks it may be overpriced but it may be worth one. Never seen the check list for bloody mary, cool and very simple detail that makes the place memorable. Taste the food before you send out bland dishes that customers have to doctor up.

We've eaten here twice in the past four days, so that should be your first clue. I've had the spinach omelet and the fiesta omelet; both were great. The cheese grits are a terrific side dish, and the coffee is excellent. My husband loves pancakes, but he doesn't love just anyone's pancakes. He ordered them again today, along with a side of their pecan smoked bacon. Add in excellent service from a friendly staff, and Brick and Spoon becomes a "must try" and "we'll be back" kind of place. Keep the coffee pot on! (Although I know our son will be anxious to try one of the Bloody Marys.)

Sometimes WH, but not ALL THE TIME! BRICK AND SPOON is a concept for real people that enjoy more out of breakfast, brunch and/or lunch. Champagne flights and Bananas in Pajamas. Need I say more? Made to order Bloody Mary's that could be a meal and Omelets that you wish that you would have thought of first. Eric Beech and his team...his amazing talented and beautiful team will see you thru to the bacon white chocolate bread pudding. I love this place. My pals love this place, and I am c confident that you will love this place.

Both the food and the service here were wonderful! I had the stuffed french toast and my husband had the regular french toast with a side of bacon. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. They have very unique dishes and the presentation is great. Perfect for a breakfast date!!

This place gets busy during peak so plan on a bit of a wait. However, the food is very good. I went with the brioche French toast with a side of bacon and was very pleased. I'm no drinker but many were enjoying the build your own Bloody Mary on Saturday.

My husband and I enjoy a good breakfast. After reading reviews, we decided to try Brick and Spoon. Words can't describe the atmosphere and taste of food. The waitress was great and very accommodating. I ordered the creole omlet and cheese grits. I was very impressed with the flavor. It was loaded with juicy shrimp and the chorizo or sausage gave it a kick!! Tasty!! My husband ordered the banana foster french toast and raved about it! We went back the next day because it was so tasty! I ordered the tacos and they were the best tacos ever. They had a mango salsa and light crispy friend wonton shell!! Words can't describe the flavor and presentation of these. I ordered the gouda mac and cheese and it was sooooo delicious! ! My husband ordered the grown up grilled cheese and raved about the bacon and egg and the entire sandwich. He chose Parmasean french fries and they were crispy and delicious! This restaurant is a "must"...

A nice place for brunch away from the everyday touristy spots. Cute and modern. The service is amazing and on point. I feel that most who visit the area may find the fair unique and "hip". I think it was lovely, but have differently had better. It was a little bland and a bit pricey, but I get it. The benedict poboy was original, but again, lacked flavor. My mom loved the stuffed french toast. The coffee was great but I wish they had real cream and not little gas station packets. The grits were great after I added a little salt. Overall, very quaint and nice step off the beaten Gulf Shores area path.

Tried Brick and Spoon at the recommendation of my nephew and after seeing their crowded parking lot on Sunday mornings. My fellow diners enjoyed the Build-your-own Bloody Mary and champagne flight, both finding good and bad qualities for each ($0.20 for celery salt, cold bacon and a huge celery stalk in the Mary and no distinctive taste for any of the 3 champagne add-ins). They were happy with their dining selections (crab crepes and wonton-wrapped breakfast tacos) and said they would order again. I selected the cheeseburger which was cooked to my specification; topped perfectly and showcased in a PERFECT bun.....however.....the burger itself tasted more like meatloaf than a hamburger. The burger flavor is obviously supposed to star in a sandwich by the name of CHEESEBURGER with all other superfluous "fixings" only compliments. I would not order again.

This quickly became our favorite breakfast spot in Orange Beach. Menu is full of wonderful choices - food and drink. The Benedict choices are amazing and my decision to go with the Crab Cake Benny proved itself to be an excellent one. The morning libation choices are also stellar!

Killer Creole Omlette was outstanding! The amount of selections for breakfast was impressive. Anyone will be able to find something they like with ease. Will stop here again without a doubt.

Went for brunch the week of Thanksgiving when the place we wanted to go was closed. Our table tried the beignets (nothing too special), an omelet which was awesome, the amazingly delicious eggs Benedict po'boy, a good traditional breakfast, and the huge kid's pancake. Overall the food was delicious. The restaurant has a clean, young cool vibe feel to it, serving from mason jars, and really cool mugs for coffee. Definitely will return!

Went here from lunch after church. Wait was around 20 mins. The staff was attentive, and accommodating. The food service was kinda slow after ordering, and they were outta tops for children's drinks. The burgers were ok nothing that made me say WOW I'm coming back. The kids had breakfast food, and again just breakfast food. All in all it was breakfast, and a burger. You can find this kind of stuff all along Canal Rd.

Led here by an ingenious marketing concept of FREE BEIGNETS, we arrived at 7:10 on a Tuesday as perhaps the first and only customers so far. Very attractive place and a great concept. Our server was excellent and sitting outdoors was perfect. They are noted for the most unique Bloody Mary, which you can order with enough extra$ to make it a meal. The disappointing part was the food which is why we all go to restaraunts. Our Eggs Benedict were both under cooked and over cooked depending on which one you tried. The grits were extremely over peppered, and the cheese grits I ordered, had a consistency of paste. The fruit side was an after thought, and the melon was tasteless. Very disappointed overall. On the positive side, the beignets were both free (with coupon) and very well done. They came with a very tasty strawberry sauce....yum.

    - Service was slow despite open tables - Despite a full mimosa menu, out of champagne and unavailable to accommodate - Decor was decorated well - Food above average - Bloody Mary: A- Overall disappointed but lots of opportunity... Don't be discouraged fro

Although it's a 'semi-chain' we still enjoyed our breakfast. Fresh products and very quick service even on a busy Sunday morning. The oyster Benedict was delicious and next time I'm trying the soft shell crab Benedict. We didn't order the beignets, but the table next to us had the stuffed ones and looked tasty. We went in a January morning so I imagine during the summer you can expect a serious wait.

  • Mike O.

Looking for food that isn't fried to death in this area can be a real challenge. We road out bikes 5 miles based on reviews and were happy we did. The crab beignets were perfect, fresh, simple. My only reservation was the heavy mayo sauce for the beignets. A herby yogurt or lighter spicy aioli would be my choice Shrimp and Tasso Mac and cheese and verde salad were spot on This really was an excellent surprise for us after so many groaning post meal "I'm never eating fried food again around here" declarations The service was efficient, pleasant and non invasive. My real disappointment was in myself for not trying the build your own Bloody Mary menu. We will be back. Period

The best place I have been to eat my whole trip down here. If I could, this would be the only place I would eat. The service was friendly and took care of our needs. The food was so delicious. I had the Shrimp & Tasso Mac N Cheese and my fiancé ordered the Spinach Bacon Cheddar Omelet with cheese grits on the side. Nothing was left behind. Definitely check this place out if you are in a 20 mile radius.

A must, if only for a Bloody Mary! The menu is inventive and fresh. The waiters and waitresses make the drinks for you. We will definitely be coming here every time we visit the beach!

Went there this morning for my wife' **th birthday, and could not have been happier with everything. Our waitress was as accomodating and attentive as you could ask for, and the food was terrific! had the killer creole omelet and the po boy eggs benedict, both were simple perfection. The waitress even took off the $5 charge for the beignets (which were excellent by the way) as a birthday treat for maggy!! Have found our new favorite in orange beach....maybe all of alabama.

  • Kelby Z.

best breakfast / brunch I've had on the Alabama coast. service was good, food came out decently fast for how busy it was. grits were good - the pecan bacon was cooked to perfection. and the eggs Benedict was amazing - still trying to figure out how they made the poached eggs so perfect. oh, and the bloddy was way better than advertised.

What a surprise to find a menu "anything but routine". Next trip will be our first stop for eats!! We love different especially when we vacation and Brick and Spoon was a highlight for our visit to Orange Beach. I had the Chicken Jerk omelet with Parmesan Encrusted fries. So tasty and perfectly cooked!!!! My wife had the Spinach omelet and loved it. We can't wait for a return trip to try Bananas in Pajamas, Bananas Foster, and the Grownup grill Cheese. There were so many awesome choices on the menu that it took me several reads of the menu before I could make up my mine. We will be back when we're in the area again!!! Service was also top notch.

    (5)
  • Jay H.

Awesome place to eat! The ham and cheese omelette was probably the best I've ever had. Get the peppered pecan bacon on the side and cheese grits instead of the pomme fritas. I didn't get a Bloody Mary but they have a selection of ingredients like no other! This is a must.

  • Kate N.

Fantastic food and really pleasant atmosphere. In an area with so many low-end, tacky tourist restaurants, this is a very pleasant surprise. Sitting on the pretty porch was great. The Crab Cake Benedict was perfect and do not leave without trying the Bananas in Pajamas. Our only complaint was that it took a really long time from ordering to being served, but the food was worth the wait.

  • Hannah W.

We had the stuffed French toast and the spinach, bacon, tomato, and cheddar omelette. The foster sauce on the French toast was a little too sweet for me but the bf loved it. Place is black & white very cute. My only "complaint" would be that our drinks weren't refilled and I really could have gone for another cup of coffee. Everything else was great!

I don't think I would return unless just for beignets. Prices on the high side, food rather flavorless. Service was good.

Started out with a customizable bloody mary. It was huge, a meal in its self, Great drink made just right, had cucumber, cilantro infusion vodka. For breakfast had the Caribbean Omelets, delicious jerk chicken, w/ pineapple, mango salsa. And other stuff. Never had pineapples in omelets, but somehow it worked. Meal was great. Bartender eas friendly n attentive. Overall great restaurant. ..

My sister and I were looking for a place to eat before going to the show at The Wharf and decided on this restaurant. We were delighted when we were shown to a table right away. Our waitress was great and answered all our questions. If you like mimosas, try the trio. 3 small ones of your choice and you have a lot to choose from. Berry was my favorite. I got the shrimp and tarragon Sammy and my sister got the grownup grilled cheese. Delicious; we ate every bite, including the truffle oil fried french fries! Atmosphere was great with lots of light and roomy. I even saw someone picking herbs for the dishes right outside; can't get any fresher. Prices were reasonable and there was a lot to choose from. You could even order a Bloody Mary just the way you wanted it. We go to Orange beach every summer, and Brick & Spoon will be on out list as a place to come!

  • Nikki V.

Plate sizes are big, food is awesome! Try the shrimp and Tasso Mac n cheese or the shrimp Tasso creole omelette or the poached egg poboy. Bloody Mary's are impressive and customizable (bacon and a slim Jim in a drink!?!) as was my mamas mojito, filled with enough fruit to count as my daily serving ! Kids meals are $4 and were sizeable. All the people around us with different dishes made me want to come back again to try new things!

Nice place with a laid back atmosphere. Had the Korean BBQ benedict, wasn't bad. Felt the bulgogi flavor kind of overpowered the other flavors, but still was not a bad dish. Definitely a different flavor. Tried my girlfriend's stuffed french toast and it was def the winner of the day. Its a great balance of sweet and savory with the cheese, fruit, and syrup. Parmesan truffle fries were also delicious. Will definitely be headed back to explore the menu further!

  • Shiloh W.

Delicious! Huge burger, delicious beignets (they were out of the creme ones and didn't whip up anymore though) Hardly anyone else was there. Prices were decent and worth it. The breakfast tacos were great as well. The staff was a bit odd, one man said he was in training though.

Delicious brunch options! We ate around noon and the place was adorable. Menu had options not found at other nearby restaurants. I'd definitely recommend if you're looking to try new things.

If this restaraunt were in a real city it might just earn 3 stars, but the fact that it's in a cultural desert probably warrants 5. I'll split the difference with 4. Brunch on a Monday afternoon, that's a win for sure, and the fact that not everything was fried, that's another huge win, actually good food and fresh fruit, we're looking at a rarity in the south. Still, five stars? What rating then do restaurants that are actually exceptional earn. This place is the best breakfast/brunch spot for 75 miles at least in every direction, so if you're on the fence, get off it; but your mind will not be blown unless you're from someplace less civilized than here.

Wow what a great menu and the food and service get five stars. I had the Featherbed Oysters Benedict and highly recommend this fabulous dish. We were all pleased with our meals. Only drawback was the noise level.

For our first visit we would give The Brick a three star rating. With that said the Mac and Cheese with shrimp and crab was to doe for!! Amazing blend of flavor that flew off the plate. All though we did not have a Bloody Mary, their Bloody Mary menu is among the best I haver seen. Must do in Orange Beach!!

After reading a few reviews me and my wife decided to try breakfast. When we arrived there were about 3-4 couples in front of us but what we did not understand was 3 clean open tables that stayed empty for at least 15 min before they seated anyone. They seamed to have a lot of employees but it was total confusion by the staff. Not to mention the restaurant had a capacity of about 100 people and only had one single bathroom per gender with only one toilet. It took our waiter 20min to come back with our check when we went to pay. It seemed they only had one computer to process all transactions. From beginning to end our breakfast took over 2hours. On a better note the food was average but we will not be back...

  • Lisa P.

This restaurant has such potential. My Farmers Market Benedict was well cooked and fairly tasty. My problem was the small things that just made my meal less than I was expecting after reading othere reviews. My side of fruit was merely cantaloupe, honeydew and grapes. Fine if it's January, but not if it's summer in an area with amazing local fruit. And the hollandaise sauce was a tiny ribbon on my eggs. I can't tell you if it was good or not because I really couldn't taste any. The veggies on the benedict were delicious and the poached eggs cooked perfectly. Perhaps I went in expecting too much, but I really think Brick and Spoon could deliver it all and be fantastic if they wanted to.

I don't drink Bloody Marys, but the customizable Bloody Mary menu is a cool touch. Nice atmosphere, but the service was slow. My lunch salad was good, but the beignets my friends and I shared were not. That said, I'd give the place another chance if I was nearby.

Love the casual but refined atmosphere. The owner Eric Beech is a gracious host who takes time to visit and get to know the guests. The food was prepared as requested and was hot and fresh to order. This isn't your traditional boring breakfast, so check it out.

Unfortunately did not meet our very high hopes. We have been driving past Brick and Spoon all summer, waiting anxiously for it to open. We may or may not have already read the menu online and picked out what we were going to eat ;) We went on Sunday the weekend they opened so I will cut them a little slack since it was their first weekend. However the experience was just disappointing: -Our waitress was extremely unfriendly. They type orders on cellphones and I swear she did not look up at us from the phone once the entire time. -Our waitress seemed extremely irritated and rushed. When she couldn't figure out how to work her phone, she just walked away from our table (mid taking our order) without saying a word and then came back a few minutes later -I ordered the breakfast tacos and she said she was out of them (that would have been nice to know when we arrived) and just left the table again without a word...I guess so I could decide on something else (Pro: I ended up getting an omelet and it was delicious) -We watched our drinks be made at the bar...and then watched them sit at the bar...and sit...and sit...until another waitress finally brought them over to us. Not cool when one of the drinks was a frozen mimosa (Pro: the bloody marys were fantastic!) -When you pay, you pay on the phone, meaning that the waitress stands there with you while you look over the check and asks you how much you want to tip her. Awkward! I am honestly hoping that we just had a bad experience with our waitress or that it was just first weekend kinks. However, I don't know that I would go back to decide.

We were ecstatic to find a non-fried food place on our recent trip to the area. This place is definitely in a different league than any other place in the area and almost doesn't fit because it is so trendy and cool. The decor was really nice and simple. I had the french toast and bacon and it was perfect. My husband had the shrimp and grits and found it to be lacking in shrimp and too creamy in a bad way for true shrimp and grits, but it was definitely edible. We tried 2 of their coffee cocktails and they were amazing! I wish I could've tried them all. Their menu looked great and I wished I could've sampled everything because everyone's food looked great. We don't drink bloody mary's, but if we did this would be the place to do it with all of the ingredients there were to choose from. Some of it seemed a bit extreme, but I think it's more for the fun of it and to add something unique. Would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting the area.

I should have known when I walked in and no customers and it was 10am..not a good sign.... Had the tortilla soup and tasted like gumbo and was loaded with bell peppers.. The grits were different... They had the texture of masa with whole corn... The adult grilled cheese was just ok...very little cheese and menu said bacon... I would not say one slice bacon is enough for a sandwich. And since it is ala carte ...all u get is a sandwich for $10. I don't mind paying that for a sandwich if it's good.... I don't mind paying high prices for high end food.. Brick and spoon will not be on my list of eating out. This place has a tall bill to fill if they are going to stay in business..

We have been wanting to try this restaurant and decided on a Friday morning. The staff was friendly and the service good. Loved the ambiance and the description of the menu offerings. I had the shrimp creole omelet. Presentation was nice, but the shrimp tasted like the frozen, supermarket variety. The eggs were "watered" down as though thinned too much. Parmesan fries were not hot and a bit stale. My husband had the breakfast tacos. The chorizo was bland but be enjoyed the flavor of the toppings. Our favorite was the grits. No one offered to refill our drinks. We plan to try the lunch menu before deciding if we will be regulars.
